Dirt? I Don't Think So!

Kenny Rogers' pitching hand during Game 3 of the ALCS (left) and in the first inning of Sunday's Game 2 of the World Series. The lefty appears to have a similar-looking brown substance on his hand in both instances.

Last night Kenny Rogers was spotted with a substance on his pitching hand. It is being reported by the MLB umpires and Kenny Rogers as a spot of dirt. However, after washing it off before the second inning there was still a lot of discoloration on his hand.

This whole thing was handled in such a horrible fashion that I can't believe it. In my opinion the Cardinals should have really pushed the issue, but I am wondering if Tony LaRussa is putting his friendship with Jim Leyland ahead of winning. Tony who in almost every other game would have been all over the issue and the umpires, let this go for some reason without really asking a lot of questions.

Now don't get me wrong. I think LaRussa is one of the best if not the best manager in baseball. I just don't understand how he did not protest or anything last night.

I want to hear what you all think. Is it no big deal? Should Rogers be out of the World Series? Is MLB becoming a joke as far as it's policies and rules? Holla.

No excuse. Rogers is a cheater plain and simple. The double-talk and lies after the game are a joke.

Apparently, players on both teams admitted off the record that it was pine tar.
